About Richard Eastman
Richard Eastman is founder and President of The Eastman
Group Inc. During the 1980's, 90's, and through 2013, TEG
built travel software solutions implemented by GDS/CRSs,
airlines, tour operators, travel agencies, and corporations
throughout the world, as well as the U.S. Department of
Transportation. Richard is now semi-retired; and while
he no
longer seeks to "build" software tools. he remains active in
consulting roles.
TEG’s primary product was AutoLink™, originally conceived and
developed Richard in 1993. Even today, variants of AutoLink
remain in use by GDSs, airlines, travel agencies, and the U.S.
Department of Transportation to enable
cross-platform connectivity between vendor legacy systems and
contemporary client-server TCP/IP architectures. Richard
uses these cross platform travel technology experiences
and knowledge to consult, advise, or oversee the development of
tools to serve today's contemporary industry goals.
Prior to focusing on travel distribution software solutions,
Richard was Chief Marketing Officer for AirLanka, Ltd., the
national carrier of Sri Lanka (now, SriLankan Airlines). He
served as Chief Information Officer for Associated Travel Inc.
(now a part of Carlson Wagonlit) and working with Associated,
created and built the travel industry’s first automated quality
control program, AQUA (Automated Quality User Assurance). That
program still serves Carlson Wagonlit.
In addition, Richard has also held executive management roles in
two commuter airlines, a tour company, headed a group of travel
agencies, and worked a number of years in advertising and public
relations. He was a part of the management team that steered
Aloha Airlines successfully through its 2005 plan of
reorganization and returned the airline to profitable operations
in 2006.
